Bali Chain Handcrafted Byzantine Design

The Byzantine design is created by each individual link or section being cast in a mold then hand assembled with torch and solder by highly skilled craftsmen that have had their trade passed down over the centuries. After the desired length has been reached and the ends and clasp have been attached, the entire piece is dipped in a bath of black oxide or antiquing fluid. Then the finished brilliant surface is accomplished by hand on a polishing wheel. This final step leaves the high portions of the silver bright and the portions in relief black. These Balinese traditional chains are works of art that are not only beautiful but extremely durable and very flexible.

This is lightest weight Bali Chain we offer. Wear this chain by itself or with a Balinese pendant to add excitement and color to your look.

Bali Herringbone Chain Design - Balinese Tulang Naga Chain

The Herringbone Chain pattern or Tulang Naga, as it's called in Balinese, translates to the "Backbone of the Dragon" or "Serpent." This is a very labor intense pattern that is woven from countless strands of Silver Wire by hand. Just as the Byzantine Chain, it's also placed in a bath of antiquing solution when the weave is completed. After the fluid dries the chain is hand polished on a buffing wheel to more of a sheen than a high polish. The end result is silky smooth to the touch and extremely flexible. This chain design is very sleek and comfortable to wear. Herringbone-Tulang Naga Chain is also referred to as Wheat and Snake Chain.

This medium weight chain is perfect as a stand-alone piece or accompanied by your favorite pendant. The subtle sheen of oxidized Silver is coupled with a chain that is smooth, flexible and a pleasure to wear.
