Coconut wood has been worked into a smooth puffed oval. A hand applied Ebony type finish was rubbed in and then trimmed inside and out with .925 Sterling Silver. A really sharp and very unique design. Coordinates super with black and white but you could wear it with just about everything....and get compliments. This Hopi Pueblo styled unisex pendant depicts two Kokopelli (the deity of fertility) dancing over the entrance to a subterranean Kiva or traditional ceremonial room. Brushed satin finish Silver provides a canvas for this intricate design created in relief and oxidized for contrast. The artist has put just a slight bow in the Silver for additional light reflection from the hammered surface. A rectangle slot was cut at the top to accommodate the four jump rings that serve as a bail. Another rectangle cut of 3/8 x 1" was made in the center and then covered with a slightly longer and narrower piece of Silver with a smooth high polished surface. This Taxco artist only makes a few of one design and then moves on to the next. In this creation he has formed various cube shapes of solid Sterling Silver and soldered them to a heavy sheet of Silver. Holding this pendant is like holding an ingot of the same size. A very substantial work of art to say the very least. A heavy oxidized finish between the shapes really punches it up into the ultra dramatic design category.
